Did you know the word love or a variation of it is used over 700 times in the Bible?
That’s a lot.
But at the same time, it’s not surprising. It’s part of what Jesus referred to as “the greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:38). He also goes on to say,
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.’
Matthew 25:40
Our world is in a dark place at the moment. We are called to spread love and light to penetrate the darkness.
Today’s #FridayFavors is simple.
Love one another.
How can you do that?
Instead of looking at the ground and diverting your eyes from a passing stranger on the street, look them in the eye, smile, and wish them a blessed day.
When assigned to work with a coworker you don’t get along with, instead of approaching them in a passive aggressive manner, pull up your big girl panties and ask them about their day, what their plans are for the weekend, or anything to show interest in their lives.
If you know there is a close relationship you used to have with someone that fell apart, say a prayer, take a deep breath, be the bigger person and reach out to them to apologize for the way things happened (even if it’s not entirely your fault).
Look for every single opportunity each day to see those you encounter as Jesus. If your Lord was there with you, how would you treat Him? Treat others as you would Jesus.
Is it sometimes hard? Of course.
But as Christians, that as how we are called to live a truly righteous life.
We love each other because he loved us first.
1 John 4:19 (NLT)
Love the stranger on the street.
Love your enemy.
Love everyone.
