Except maybe the boldness to give a compliment to a perfect stranger…
Think about the last time you were out and someone you didn’t know told you they loved your hair or you have a beautiful smile. How did that make you feel? I’ve experienced it and it feels amazing, especially since it doesn’t happen too often.
I always try to make a point of giving compliments to strangers when something really stands out to me. Women and men both need this in their lives, but when it comes to a woman from another woman, it just seems extra impactful.
Women can often be so hurtful to one another. And judgmental. It’s like the battle of the X-chromosomes and a cat fight for the ages. Why?
It doesn’t have to be that way…
Our joy comes from the Lord. By spreading positive affirmations to others, we can use this as an opportunity to spread God’s love through our actions. Paul reminds the people of Thesalonica that this should be a continual part of their routine.
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:10 (NLT)
Modeling this Christ-like behavior is a simple way to demonstrate God’s love. It is a habit I have developed that has brought me such joy in my own life. When the person’s eyes light up in surprise, it is the best feeling ever.
So do yourself a favor. Spread a little joy today by complimenting a perfect stranger. The effort is minimal. The reward is eternal.
