Welcome to Not Folly!

I am so glad you have chosen to join me on this journey.

As an “end of an era” Gen X-er, I was at my prime right when blogging began. And although I have always wanted to be a writer, for some reason, I didn’t dive in head first at that time. I never really understood why. Now I know:

It wasn’t my time!

God is funny that way. Whether you have a deep relationship with God, no relationship at all, or you are simply testing the waters, I hope that I can help you find some encouragement along the way.

I am NOT a religious scholar. Far from it. I am just a girl who loves the Lord and wants others to experience His light and His joy the way I do.

While I have always been a Christian, my path has taken some twists and turns. I have not always fostered my relationship with God. I have made, many, MANY mistakes. But God just wouldn’t let me go. Thank goodness for that!

In the past six months, I’ve had an astounding number of God-moments. The most recent being less than 48-hours ago, which was the call to create this site. If I had started a blog in the late 1990’s or early 2000’s, it might have been successful. It might not have. But there is one thing I know to be true: it would NOT have been meaningful. Not in this way.

As I was searching the bible for inspiration on what to call this grand new adventure, I stumbled across 1 Corinthians 1:18: For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (ESV). In that moment, Not Folly was born.

Folly is what we find in our flesh life. Distractions, busyness, excuses, and (of course) sin. These are the lies that draw us away from our relationship with God.

Not Folly is the TRUTH of God’s promise.

I look forward to exploring together what is Folly, what is Not Folly, and how to know the difference.
